Medicine Losing The Battle Against Asthma Part 2
The study published in Clin Exp Allergy linked childhood risk of experiencing Asthma symptoms based upon if, when and how often they had taken antibiotics. The most decisive factors were when (beforeor after the first year of life) and how often. The results are frightening:
The increase in risk of developing Asthma symptoms over those children who had never taken antibiotics was:
- YOUR child may be 2.74 TIMES more at risk of Asthma if they have EVER taken antibiotics.
- YOUR child may be over 4 TIMES more at risk of Asthma if antibiotics were used DURING their frst year of life.
- YOUR child may be over 1.6 TIMES more at risk of Asthma if antibiotics were used AFTER their first year of life.
- YOUR child may be over 2.25 TIMES more at riskof Asthma if only 1-2 courses of antibiotics were used during their life.
- YOUR child may be over 4 TIMES more at risk of Asthma if 3 or more courses of anti-biotics were used during theirife.
- And, because children may occupy more than one category, they could be at up to 6 TIMES the risk experienced by children who have NEVER taken antibiotics.
The Bottom Line:
So, now childhood Asthma is added to the list of potential hazards resulting from the quick fix mentality of taking antibiotics. This, along with the increased resistance to these drugs, shoud be cause to at least think twice.
